I have always thought Jacob was a son of Christopher. It says in the will
"I will and bequeath to my three sons, Michael Rhodes, Peter Rhodes and
Samuel Rhodes all the ballance of my Estate together consisting of the tract
of land I now live on and all the money due in the name of Jacob Rodes Dec

time who took all the obligation for money loaned in his own name together
with my stock all kinds houshold furniture of every description....." and it
goes on.
Eve is mention in the will. "that is to say I give to my children that is
here after named the sum of twenty dollars each my sons George Rhodes
ChristopherRhodes and Benjamin Rhodes Eave Siler I likewise give and
bequeath to my two daughters Ginny Good and Rebecca Rhodes the sum of twenty
dollars each this forty is to be
paid out of the money that George Good owes my estate....'
With no commas or periods in the will it just kind of runs together and is
hard to understand.

Found more on the Matthias Rhoads line and I don't think he was ever in

The reason I started this one is everyone can add to it and with the proof
or source. If no proof or source, then it isn't added at this time. We can
create and export/import database for different lines on the yahoo.
I love your new website. It is a great source of information.

I can create a separate Rhodes tree on my WV Pioneers website and each of
you can upload your Rhodes gedcom - descendants of Christopher only.
Unfortunately, I can't make it private so anyone can see it. If you don't
have the URL and want to see it first, go to www.wvpioneers.com
Think about it over the weekend. There's bound to be pros and cons that I

>From Frontier Forts Along The Potomac and Its Tributaries
p 116-117
In the summer 1766, near the close of the war, two girls and a boy were
murdered near Fort Keller by a party of eight Indians and a whit man. The
savages had captured four children at the home of John Rhodes near the
southern outlet of Powell's Fort, and while crossing Fort Mountain through
the Edinburg Gap with their captives, one boy became exhausted and was
killed. The girls then refused to go any farther and both were summarily
tomahawked by their brutal captors. The remaining Rhodes boy was taken to
the Indian towns beyond the Ohio where he remained a prisoner for more than
three years before he was allowed to return home. Ref. Kerchival p 102
pg 172-173
Fort Rhodes
This defense was located on the west side of South Fork of the Shenandoah
River, about five miles northwest of Luray, in what is now Page Co. VA.
John Rhodes, a Mennonite preacher who had settled along the Shenandoah
before the beginning of the war.
Rhodes House --
In August, 1764 or 1766 the year being uncertain, eight Indias and a white
man descended after this property. They surprised Reverend Rhodes, his
wife and several of his numberous children, while they were all outside the
house engaged in farm work. The preacher, his spouse and a small son were
immediately killed and scalped near the cabin. Two other sons were working
in a cornfield near the river. One climbed a pear tree standing in the
field so that he might determine what the shooting was about at the house.
An Indian found him there and he ws immediately shot. The other boy tried
to escape by crossing the Shenandoah, but he was killed before he could
reach the other shore. The place where this boy was shot is still known as
the bloody ford. At the house, one of Rhodes' older daughters at the first
alarm picked up the baby of the family and ran first to the barn, then into
a field of hemp growing on the river bottom. Not being detected by the
Indians, she succeded in crossing the river and reached the home of a
neighbor still carrying the baby with her. Four other Rhodes children, two
boys and two girls, were carried away by the Indians. Ref. Kerchival pp
101, 102
So by the account above at least three children lived. Older dau. the baby
and one boy.

Just whistleing in the wind, but-----I believe the reported age of
Sr.---there is a newspaper item at lexington dating to that time period
indicating
that at least people at that time believed.
Therefore:
There could have been and probably were several relationships.
I think the will only mentioned those where money was involved.
I too believe there were more Christophers----or one or two sure did travel
a lot.

Working on the database and only putting in proof as to where the
information came from under Christopher, these questions have come up. --
A very wild, wild question -- Put your thinking cap on.
Christopher Sr. had a decreased person in his will Jacob Rhodes (who is he?)
And the only reason he is mention is because of money. Eve is also not
mentioned in will. So Christopher might have had other children and
decreased children. They could have moved away and that is one of the
reasons they are not mention.
Could one of Christopher sons or brothers had another Christopher the one
that married Rebecca Neece, since she isn't in Christopher Sr. will. And
maybe this is the one went to Greenbrier co. VA by 1810, since we know a
Christopher and Rebecca is there in 1850 census. Another county that should
be checked for information. After looking at census's they are not matching
up for Rebecca being Christopher Sr. wife. So we need to look at ALL the
clues.
