Thanks, JoAnn. That would be great. I don't know why these people could never remember their correct names, ages or even how many kids they'd had! I don't have Rhomulus or Mazie. Here's what I have:

I have Virgil Goff Fields, son of James R and Matilda Casto Fields, but I cannot figure out who Freda Rhodes was. The only Freda I can find is the daughter of William B and Rebecca Southall, and she was born in 1897. Is this her, lying about her age, or a different person?  I don't see another marriage for a Freda that could be her in either
Jackson or Roane.

I can't find Freda or Virgil in 1920, but there is a birth record for a son, Hurbert R, 9/15/1914 in Jackson Co. Virgil married Jeanettie D 'Nettie' Price in Jackson Co, 10/18/1921. I don't see a marriage for Freda Fields.

In 1930, Virgil and Nettie are living with James and Tillie, with 2 children from his first marriage - Roy, 15 and Louisa 14, as well as his 4 children with Nettie: Monie, Sherman, Ray and Gay.

The Woodfell Cemetery has the following:

Here's 1870 and 1880, also, and the deaths from Roane Co. This gives us 9 of the 10 she'd had in 1900, Martha, Canzada, Dollie, Alice, Charles, Willie, Leota, Flossie, Dell. But they have 3 living with them in 1990, and Martha, Dolly and Alice are alive and producing babies, so that is all 6 that were living. That means Charles also died and there one more that we don't have a name for. And we don't have parents for Stacie/Stashie. Back to square one.

Robert R Raines 1792-1848 After moving from Lewis Co with brother John, Robert and wife lived on Flat Fork at the mouth of Cabbage Fork. Here at their home Harper District was organized in 1862 with Mathias Rhodes as supervisor. Their home also served as the first Post Office in Harper District

Hi Betty,
I have always thought Susan was a nickname for Synabeth. If you will notice Elizabeth that married Andrew Shaver is not shown on the 1860 Census. I believe her name and Synabeth or Susan is mixed up. Elizabeth is shown on the 1870 Census but no Synabeth just Susan.

Thomas Edward, born Oct 1848 and Rachel Casto, born Nov 1852? I have their son as Charles L, born May 1873, so he's too old. I have him married to Stacie/Stachia/Stashie Fields, born about 1881. This is probably her in 1880:

That's the Maryland branch of the Rhodes family that settled in Mason Co and some moved into Jackson. But Daniel had a sister named Eliza who didn't marry, although the age is off about 10 years. JoAnn, the 1860 census shows both Susan and Synabeth. And Susan, age 25, is there in 1880 while Synabeth is married and long gone. I think they were two separate people.

Hi Joyce,
Susan was a nickname for Synabeth. Two of my aunt's married into this family, one to the son of Geo. Washington and the other to the son of Ezra Jerome. I think Ester and Ezra are the same person by the birthdates. That would make the 11 children on the 1900 census.
