Dear Sir:

Reference is made to your letter in which you request the Revolutionary War records of Joseph Rhoades who, you state, served under Colonel Lewis Dubois, had a brother John killed at the storming of Fort Montgomery, also had a daughter Mary who married Frederick Hadley, son of Frederick and Catherine (Purdy) Hadley, all of whom lived in Ulster County, New York, and of Bogardus Hatch who, you state, died May 24, 1836, at the age of seventy-four years nine months twenty-four days, and his wife, Deborah, died May 16, 1841, at the age of seventy-five years, both being buried in Columbia County, New York, and that his daughter, Chloe, married William R. Owens and moved to Erie County, New York.

There is no claim for pension or bounty land on file based upon service in the Revolution of a Bogardus Hatch, under any spelling.  Such claims are the source of data furnished by this office in regard to the soldiers of the Revolutionary War.  The record of Joseph Rhoads follows as found in pension claim, S. 45583, based upon his service in the Revolutionary War.

In 1820, the soldier stated that he was living with his wife and seven children and that he had other children who were married and not living at home.  The following names of children were given:
