In July 1841 [Hosea Rhodes] removed with his family to Oberlin, Ohio, buying a farm two and one-half miles from the village, in Russia township. Here he lived until a few years before his death, when he removed to Marshalltown, Iowa.

Hosea married Ruth Harris, daughter of William Harris and Ruth Wetherby, on 5 May 1814 in Grafton, VT. Ruth was born on 5 Oct 1795 in Grafton, VT and died on 28 Oct 1838 in Grafton, VT at age 43.

Joseph Warren Rhodes was a farmer, but worked at the carpenter's trade a number of years; lived in Ohio until the fall of 1864, when he removed to Joyfield, Benzie Co., Michigan, bought a farm and lived there until his death, which occurred there. He was treasurer of Joyfield for about nine years, and school director three or four years, also township assessor...

William Harris Rhodes was for several years engaged in the sale of books in company with his brother Isaac Newton, traveling in the South and employing several agents. The outbreak of the Civil War stopped their business and caused quite a loss of goods. At the time of his death in the spring of 1863 he had charge of a wholesale stationery and notion store in Nashville, Tenn., employed by a firm in Cincinnati, Ohio; his death occurred in Cincinnati. He was a man of much natural ability; was said to have inherited much from his mother; he possessed excellent business qualities, and had the prospect of a bright future before him at the time of his death...

William married Nettie E. Fisk, daughter of ??? Fisk and Unknown, on 16 Sep 1858. Nettie was born on 18 Aug 1833 in Genesee, NY.

Isaac Newton Rhodes attended the preparatory department of Oberlin College in the fall and winter of 1854-5. In Dec., 1855 he engaged in the business of selling books, traveling in the Souther states; afterwards had charge of a portion of the business and employed agents. He was associated for several years with his brother William H. in this business. In 1861 he went to Lebanon, Ohio and attended three terms at the Normal School; taught school two winters, and in the spring of 1863 went to Nashville, Tenn. to take charge of the store where his brother William H. had been; remained there until the fall of 1865, then went to Chicago, Ill. and was employed as a commercial salesman several years. In 1872 he engaged in the sale of sewing-machines in Marshalltown, Iowa, and in April 1877 removed to Marysville, Cal., where he now [1883] resides and is engaged in the same business.

Isaac married Jane H. Fisk, daughter of ??? Fisk and Unknown, on 11 Jun 1868.
