Will of Elizabath Rhodes - Onslow Co., NC, 1829


Elizabath Rhodes, State of North Carolina, County of Onslow, Will Book 1
In the name of God amen.  This 19th day of May 1829.  I, Elizabeth Rhodes, of
Onslow County & State of North Carolina being of sound mind & memory thanks be
to god for it but calling to mind the mortality of my body & knowing it is
once appointed by God for all humans to die, I do make this my last will in
the words following.
First, It is my desire that all my just debts & funeral expenses be paid.  I
give & Bequeath unto my daughter Evaline (?) Harget the sum of fifty cents.
I give & bequeath unto my daughter Mary Humphrey the sum of fifty cents.
I give & bequeath unto my daughter Narcissa Howard the sum of fifty cents.
I give & bequeath unto Margaret Rhodes my daughter one negro woman named Orris
(?), all my cattle & all I otherwise possess to her & her heirs & assigns
forever.
I also nominate & appoint my son Anthony H. Rhodes Executor to this my last
will & testament in witness whereof & here set my hand & seal date first
above.

State of North Carolina, Onslow County, Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions,
August term 1829
Then was the foregoing will of Elizabeth Rhodes duly proved in open court by
the oath of Asa H. Rhodes, one of the subscribing witnesses thereunto &
Anthony H. Rhodes, the executor therein named qualified as Executor agreeable
to law.
